GIRLS ON THE RUN............................................

YWCA is preparing girls for a lifetime of self-respect and healthy living!

Girls on the Run is a nationally recognized preventative program developed in 1996 to encourage a better sense of self-identity and healthy living in 3rd through 8th grade girls. The curriculum is designed to improve body image and to prevent unhealthy behaviors like alcohol and drug use, obesity and eating disorders by tackling all areas of a girl's development - physical, emotional, mental, social.  Girls on the Run uses a 24 lesson curricula and is taught by trained and certified Program Facilitators and Coaches. The lessons are taught through games, work-outs, team building activities, community service, group discussions and more.  At the end of the session, each girl has the opportunity to complete a 5K run/walk event.
